Taylor Liz is the Director of the Waco Convention &
Visitors Bureau, which includes convention and tourism sales, service, and
marketing programs, the operation of the Waco Tourist Information Center,
and the operation of the Waco Convention Center, a 119,000-square-foot
multi-use exhibit and meeting facility. The Waco CVB has a budget of
$2.7 million and is an enterprise fund budget (self-supporting) within the
City of Waco. Liz has been in the Texas travel and tourism industry
for approximately 21 years, working in bureaus in Georgetown, Big Spring
and Denton, prior to coming to Waco in 1993. She has served on the
Board of Directors of the Texas Travel Industry Association; the Texas
Department of Economic Development Tourism Advisory Council; and the Texas
Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus, and as Chair of
TACVB. She currently serves as Chair of the Cities of Big 12 CVBs, a
one-of-its-kind cooperative marketing venture of the cities of the Big 12
Athletic Conference. Liz has a B.A. in Speech, Communication and Drama and a
Master of Journalism in Public Relations and Marketing, both from the
University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Career and professional
certifications and education include receiving the Professional in
Destination Management certification from Destination Marketing
Association International; being a graduate of the Certified Public
Manager’s Program from (Southwest) Texas State University; the Tourism
Marketing Certification and Finance & Administration Certifications
from DMAI; and the Texas Destination Marketing Certification from the
Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau. She is a
graduate of the Disney Approach to Quality Service, from the Disney
University in Lake Buena Vista, FL, and a graduate of the Public Assembly
Facility Management School through the International Association of
Assembly Managers and the Oglebay Department of Continuing Education,
Oglebay, WV. Liz is active in the NT Exes, the alumni association
for the University of North Texas, serving on the Board of Directors for
that association and as president of the Central Texas Chapter of the NT
Exes. Locally, Liz is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and
also serves on the board of the Cen-Tex African American Chamber of
