Jennie Montgomery
Business Opportunity Specialist

Jennie Montgomery is a Business Opportunity Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration in Fort Worth, Texas. Ms. Montgomery has been with the SBA since 1970. She began her career with SBA in the Dallas Area Office as a Clerk Typist in the Procurement & Management Assistance Division.

She moved to the newly formed Dallas District Office working for the 8(a) Program. After working several years in the district, Ms. Montgomery moved to the Dallas Regional Office where, as a Business Opportunity Specialist, she processed applications and worked with the ten district offices in carrying out the 8(a) program. In 1987 Ms. Montgomery transferred to the San Antonio District Office as a Business Development Specialist where she remained for three years before returning to Dallas. While in San Antonio, Ms. Montgomery attended the University of Texas at San Antonio.

In 1990 Ms. Montgomery was selected as a Business Opportunity Specialist in the then newly formed Division of Program Certification and Eligibility. She processed applications and terminations for the 8(a) Program prior to returning to the Dallas Regional Office. When the Dallas Regional Office was restructured in 1995, Ms. Montgomery was transferred to her current position as Business Opportunity Specialist in the Dallas/Fort Worth District Office where she provides assistance to the firms in her portfolio as well as assists the general public understand not only the 8(a) Business Development Program, but the new Small Disadvantaged Business Program and the HUB Zone Program.

Ms. Montgomery served in the U.S. Army Reserves for fourteen and a half years working with the only field medical brigade in the United States. She worked in the personnel division of the brigade headquarters before finishing her career as the Supply Sergeant for a dental headquarters. Her hobbies include reading and taking care of her two cats and a dog.
